Job Choices in Retirement

As we start approaching retirement age, the question we often ask ourselves is ‘Should I Stay or Should I Go‘ (The Clash c.1981) and this is a big question and often very daunting and unnerving, but it doesn’t have to be.

Total Jobs have published an informative article about understanding your retirement choices and the changes recently made in the work place to protect staff at this point in their lives. Choices such as early, semi and flexible retirement are all possibilities.

It might be that you’ve already retired but are now wanting or thinking about re-entering the job market and again there are a number of options. Do you want to go back into full time or part time work either out of neccesity or desire?

Do you want to go back to the same industry as you were in before retirement or do you want a new challenge?

We’ve teamed up with Total Jobs to be able to point you in the right direction to finding a part time or full time job, if that’s what you want. But before you dive straight into a job search and start applying for endless, meaningless and unfulfilling jobs, think about your current skills, interests and network.

Approximately 85% of jobs are never offered to the job seekers market as they are more often filled through networking.

If your’e not sure what you want to do or have lost touch with contacts over the years then use the link below to view all part time jobs from Total Jobs. This will at least give you some ideas of what you’re now interested in. Your current interests might be totally different now to what they were when you were in full time employment.
